This code of practise contains guidelines that, if implemented, would assure compliance with current good practise. Variations are permitted, but must be supported by strong engineering principles. The new code includes significant new sections on monitoring and integrity, detector type selection, false alarms, and cable grade. As a result, system design should be performed by a qualified individual to ensure that the requirements of BS 5839 Part – 1 – 2017 are complied with.
